Forms can be used in many ways – to capture information, gather feedback, accept donations, sell products, and register for events. In what ways does your organization need to use forms? Which form builder out there best fits the needs of your non-profit or church? You’ve probably realized after doing some research there are a myriad of form builders out there to pick from. In choosing a form builder, you want one that gives you the ability to customize forms to your organization and tailor the options and captured information to your needs while being easy to manage and cost-effective. Selecting a form building solution is an important decision and you need to find one that is going to be the right fit for your non-profit or church. How do you decide which form builder is the right solution for your organization, its needs, and its audience? We’ve compared six of the top online form builders by researching their UI, features, tools and costs to help you in your decision about which one will be the best fit for your nonprofit or church.
HubSpot is a marketing technology company known for their marketing automation products, but they also offer a free form builder tool. It syncs up with the free HubSpot CRM, allowing you to centralize your data and enrich contact properties to get the best lead intelligence available. They also offer integrations with popular email marketing solutions, such as MailChimp. There’s no real limit to the amount of forms you can create or the form fields you can add, but it can be somewhat tricky to customize these forms if you want a unique design or some custom functionality.
Wufoo is a popular online form builder and the company has been around a long time. Wufoo is easy to use, gives you many templates to choose from, and its drag and drop builder is intuitive. It offers great reporting allowing you to track the performance of your forms. Wufoo doesn’t allow much when it comes to customization and the set of form fields to choose from is fixed. The design of their templates is basic and there aren’t any styling options as they are really just forms. Wufoo isn’t a payment processor so you have to obtain your own card processor. When users are redirected to an external website for processing, it can lead to abandonment and your financial data is fractured.
RegFox offers high quality, professional looking pages and forms and is mainly used for events. RegFox has an advanced-looking interface, but only allows design customization on pre-styled themes. RegFox does give you full control over the CSS, but you have to be able to speak the language for this to be an advantage and most of us aren’t web designers. A great feature of RegFox is its RealView Builder which is a drag-and-drop editor that allows you to build your pages and forms while previewing design changes in real time. RegFox is very expensive. For event registration, RegFox charges $0.99 per registrant and its average credit card processing fees are 2.99%.
FormStack is a form builder that is intuitive and has a user friendly interface. It offers many features and integration with third parties. FormStack gives you the ability to archive a form without losing the data associated with the archived form. FormStack’s monthly fees are very high. FormStack has three levels of membership. Unless you choose the top membership level with very high monthly fees, you won’t have access to all of the powerful integration and data collection features that give FormStack an advantage over the other form builders. FormStack’s builder offers pre-built theme templates, but customization is limited.
Eventbrite is well established and a very popular tool for event registration and ticketing. It’s builder is easy to use and allows for quick setup. Eventbrite offers more features for non-profit organizations than Wufoo and RegFox such as allowing registrants to enter a donation amount instead of setting a predetermined price for tickets. Eventbrite’s fees are very high and you will be end up giving a large percentage per ticket to fees. Customizing your Eventbrite forms and pages is difficult and limited. Eventbrite offers theme options, but there isn’t a lot of flexibility when it comes to personalizing a page for your organization’s brand.
